Network Glia e.V. in collaboration with the national/regional Glia Networks in Europe | Satellite Event

Date: 5.7.2026, 9:00 – 18:00
Place: to be announced

Glial cells are active partners in brain function and play essential roles across all levels of neural organization. This satellite symposium aims to put glial cells firmly on the brain cell map by highlighting their contributions to circuit function, plasticity, and brain homeostasis. The meeting will bring together neuroscientists already working on glial cells while actively engaging researchers from other fields to stimulate broader interest in glial biology. Communication and exchange within the glial research community will be fostered through a focused and interactive program. Cutting-edge advances in the field will be presented by three keynote speakers, complemented by selected talks from early-career researchers showcasing their recent work. By promoting dialogue across disciplines and career stages, this satellite symposium seeks to strengthen the visibility and impact of glial research within the broader neuroscience community.

Preliminary program:

9:00 – 9:15 Opening

9:15 – 10:00 Keynote 1: Gertrudis Perea (Cajal Institute-CSIC)

10:00 – 10:30 Coffee break

10:30 – 12:00 3 talks by Early Career Researchers (ECRs)

12:00-13:30 Lunch break

13:30-14:15 Keynote 2: To be announced

14:15 – 15:15 2 talks by ECRs
