Advancing Glial Research and Collaboration in Spain
The Red Glial Española (RGE) is a collaborative network of over 40 Spanish research groups focused on glial cell biology. Established in 1997 and affiliated with the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC), RGE promotes cooperation across research institutions, supports young scientists, and facilitates resource sharing.
Key Activities:
Organizes regular scientific meetings, including the XIII RGE Meeting (Sept 2025, Gran Canaria) and the Iberian Glial Networks Symposium (Nov 2024) with Portugal.
Offers training through workshops, summer schools, and public science events.
Awards the annual Laia Acarín Prize to outstanding glial researchers.
The RGE fosters national and international glial research through mentorship, mobility programs, and collaborative scientific platforms.
